If surveys taken in March 2009 are valid only 21 percent of the persons entitled to vote in Austria will vote in the next elections for the EU parliament which will take place on the 7th June 2009. In Poland this number is even lower with just 13 percent will making their way to the poll stations. |

The hereby given document is the political basis of Revolutionary Socialist Organisation (RSO). These Principles are the last point of a process of convergence and finaly fusion between AL-Antifaschistische Linke and Arbeitsgruppe Marxismus (AGM) which lasted for months. At the fusion conference of the two organisations in May 2007, at the same time the founding conference of RSO, these principles were adopted unanimously. |

Introduction: Today, more so in the German-speaking countries than in other parts of the world, the subjectively revolutionary left is largely isolated from the working class. It has no basis in the workplaces and, as a consequence, it is not a relevant factor within the trade unions. For Marxist revolutionaries, this situation represents a dramatic weakness. There are a number of objective reasons for this situation: fascism, the Cold War, the "welfare state", social partnership, etc. This societal framework makes revolutionary work in the trade unions and the workplaces very difficult and must be taken into account when making decisions for or against this kind of work; it cannot be overcome in a voluntaristic manner. Nonetheless, the political work of the subjectively revolutionary left is not without relevance, even if it is difficult in the current situation to find a path in between ultra-left adventurism and opportunist primitiveness (referred to by Lenin as “handicraft methods”). We will summarize the results of our discussions in the form of theses. |

In the last 20 years the women’s movement experienced a dramatic decline. It lost its character as a movement to a large extent. Active self-organisation and collective struggle against sexism in economy, state and daily life decreased. Former feminist activists got hold of jobs in the ruling system, mainly at Universities and state institutions. The few feminist structures still existing have little connection with the broad mass of working class women. How could this happen? |

In the last years the Near and Middle East were of central importance for international politics. Besides the imperialist intervention in Iraq, the Palestine conflict plaid a major role. In the discussions of the German-speaking Left this importance was reflected as well. That's why we want to draw an outline of a Marxist analysis of the situation and put it up for discussion. |

1. We drafted our basic position concerning united fronts in our Principles: it is necessary for the building of revolutionary organisations to break workers „from reformist party bureaucracies and reformism in general". „Revolutionaries apply the tactic of the united front to achieve this. This tactic seeks to bring reformist organisations, who are pressurized by their rank and file, into a collective fight for certain immediate working class interests. |

The question of whether it is reasonable to build up youth structures or a youth organization independent of a revolutionary organization, to better win young people for revolutionary positions, has a long tradition in the communist movement. In connection with the discussions in and around the LFI youth organization REVOLUTION we want to lay out our position in the following contribution for discussion, and show how the practical approach of the AGM (1) is integrated into this perspective. |
